A week of exciting giveaways

In order to mark this exciting new occasion we are offering a week full of cultured food giveaways. Every day five cultures or culture starter kits will be given away!

We’re kicking this week off with a familiar favorite – sourdough.

Cultures for Health carries 16 varieties of heirloom sourdough starters, from wheat to rye to spelt to gluten-free.

I have personally gotten a lot of use out of my rye sourdough starter in making loaves of long-fermented traditional rye bread for my family. We love these rustic loaves along with the 100% rye sourdough pancakes.

If you’re interested in long-fermented sourdough for its health benefits, flavor, or tradition then you might also be interested in the wealth of information about sourdough bread, starters, and care on the CFH site.

Head here if you’re interested in putting your name into the drawing to be one of five winners who will win the sourdough culture of their choosing!

Shannon is a mama to four small children, homesteader, freelance writer, and picture-taker. She lives with her husband on their off-grid homestead where they make and eat kefir, kombucha, sourdough, and fermented vegetables.

So excited for the re-launch! I love CFH and find myself returning time and again as its such a fantastic source of trust worthy information. I can’t wait for new posts, and the give-a-ways is absolute icing on the chocolate-sourdough cake!

I am very interested in purchasing a sourdough starter, but I have no idea which one to choose from! Are they all able to produce basic loaves of bread that can be used for toast and sandwiches? Are some better suited for things like pancakes and biscuits?
